Bar code scanners use a photo diode to measure the intensity of the light reflected back from the bar code. A laser scanner uses either a rotating mirror or prism to scan the laser beam across the bar code. A CCD bar code scanner uses a hundreds of tiny light sensors (compared to a laser scanner that uses one single photo diode) and measures emitted ambient light from the bar code. The imagers use a small video camera to capture an image of a bar code and then use the same CCD technology to decode the bar code. All types of bar code scanners use a decoder to convert electrical signals into a digital format that is transmitted to a computer or handheld device.
RMS Omega carries a full array of bar code scanners: handheld scanners (general purpose to industrial) cordless scanners, and 2D imagers.
