Types of Labels:
Direct Thermal Labels
Direct Thermal Labels do not require a ribbon. The direct thermal label is chemically coated to react to temperature. Image is produced as heat is applied to the surface of the coated material. RMS Omega provides a wide range of sizes to suit your printing needs. Labels come with either a 1 inch or 3 inch core.
Thermal Transfer Labels
Thermal Transfer Labels use the same basic technology as direct thermal, but with the elimination of chemically-coated media in favor of a non-sensitized face stock and a special inked ribbon. A durable polyester ribbon film coated with a dry thermal transfer ink is placed between the thermal printhead and label. The thermal printhead is used to melt the ink onto the label surface, where it cools and anchors to the media surface. The polyester ribbon is then peeled away, leaving behind a stable, passive image.
Direct Thermal Wristbands
Zebra Z-Band wristbands are the only antimicrobial-coated wristband on the market. And, unlike laser printers and wristbands, Zebra’s direct thermal printers and Z-Band wristbands produce durable, long-lasting bar codes.
Zebra's next generation of Z-Band Direct Wristbands feature:
- A pressure-sensitive adhesive tab closure for securement. Tamper resistant.
- Six color options for color coding. The 1" adult wristbands are available with red, blue, green, yellow, pink or orange stripes.
- Increased durability. The next-generation Z-Band Direct wristbands provide superior image durability and tensile strength.
- A lower price. The price of the next generation of Z-Band Direct wristbands is lower than our current Z-Band Direct wristbands due to improved manufacturing efficiencies.
- Available with a patent-pending antimicrobial coating.
- Several size options:
- Adult: 1' x 11' and 0.75" x 11"
- Pediatric: 1" x 7"
- Infant: 1" x 6"
Blood Bag Labels
Complying with FDA and ISBT-128 labeling standards can be a challenge. RMS Omega carries both the Datamax and Zebra blood bag labels. Both manufacturers feature FDA compliant CFR 175.05 adhesives.
Zebra 8000T Primary Blood Bag Label
A 7.9 mil matte white polypropylene thermal transfer label with FDA 175.05 compliant freezer grade acrylic adhesive. Service temperature - 65° F to 140°F.

Datamax Primary Blood Bag Label
A 3.3 mil high sensitivity thermal transfer polyolefin face stock with FDA 175.05 compliant permanent adhesive with a 50# super calendared kraft liner. The face sheet provides pliablity necessary to aid in adhesion to a variety of blood bag substrates.

Maximum durability for harsh environments, highest level of resistance to heat, steam, abrasion and various chemicals, Prints exceptional on high end films
Near Edge:
Netmark IQ - Near Edge Wax/Resin Specially developed for near edge printers, mid-range for scratches, prints well on rough uncoated stock and coated stock
